Officers’ Spouses’ Club of Fort Drum — Summer Edition

It has been a hot summer in the North Country!    Yet, with all the Back-to-School supplies already in the stores, it seems as if the new OSC year is right around the corner!  And with our Membership Drive in August, it is only a few short weeks until we see each other again! 

In the meantime, here’s some NEW news about your club, the OSC.

GOING GREEN — we are continuing to go PAPERLESS!  This year marks the first year we will no longer be printing the Drumbeat.  All of the important information that you received through our monthly mailing, you can receive from this website!  Each month, members will receive an email with the latest news from the club, and a link to our site.  On this site you can see photos from our past luncheons and events, find out our latest volunteer opportunities, email members of the board with your questions, and print out important forms!

MEDIA-SAVVY — this summer we launched our official Facebook Page!  If you are on Facebook, join our group!  It will have calendar listings and open forums to discuss things from types of event themes that interest you to your favorite meals!

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE — Our Annual Membership Drive will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 6:oo PM at the Hillside Lodge at Remington Pond.   Bring a friend!!! This year’s theme is Southern BBQ!   CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.    MEMBERSHIP PRIVLEDGES.

SEPTEMBER LUNCHEON — Each year we look forward to putting on great programs to not only socialize but come together for our common goal!  That goal is to raise money for Scholarships and Welfare.  This year is no different and our program line-up is quite exciting and we have brand-new luncheon menus too!  SO COME ON DOWN!!!  On Wednesday, September 15, 2010, YOU’RE THE NEXT CONTESTANTS ON THE PRICE IS RIGHT!!!  INFORMATION TO COME.

 Congratulations to all the Scholarship Recipients and Agencies that received awards!

April Showers, Derby Days, Graduation and more!

What a wonderful Derby Luncheon yesterday, the food was delicious and the Derby hats were beautiful!

The Bingo games were, as usual, fun and competative! Congratulations to everyone who won.

Next Month’s Luncheon is our annual Scholarship Luncheon.  It is what our entire year is about, so please don’t miss it!  We will be awarding the Scholarships to deserving students and also talking about where the Welfare funds were distributed.  Please come and watch as all of the year’s hard work culminates with happy and deserving students!

Important!!!  We will also be holding an election for the First Vice President position at the May Luncheon, please come and Vote!

Spring is right around the corner…we wish…

What a fabulous January BRUNCH-eon!  The Murder Mystery was hilarious, we have such a talented group of women in our club!  They really had us fooled!  Well, there may not be a LOT of snow on the ground, and we ARE collecting welfare and scholarship applications, and that means Spring is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! Well sort of, we still have a couple more months of winter left up here…and potentially more SNOW!  But we have a LOT of fun things to do indoors and hope you join us!

**JUST A REMINDER!  If you’re a member of the Officers’ Spouses’ Club, you area also a member of the Black River Valley Club in downtown Watertown!  Take advantage of this great historical building for your FRG meetings, baby showers, lunch and more!  This month, FRIDAY FEBRUARY 26, 2010 @ 6:00 PM is their monthly Family Night.  Kid events and a dinner buffet!  To make reservations call 788-2300

Happy New Year!

Welcome back!  2010 is off to a snowy start but we have lots of fun events coming up this new year to keep us warm!  First, please note our new website design!  We’re very excited and proud of this site and how easy it will be to keep you updated on all the latest OSC news!  Please make sure to check it regularly to see updated Drumbeats, the official newsletter of the OSC, special forms as well as our exciting photo gallery that will be updated after each event!

*Don’t forget our “luncheon” on January 20 is actually a BRUNCH a 9:30 AM and a murder mystery. We are also collecting canned goods for the food pantry this month, after the holidays they need to be replenished, let’s help them out! (click here for more information)

The snow is on its way….

Thank-you to all of our wonderful participants in our October Fashion Show!  I certainly saw some great dresses!  See you in November, and remember bring a friend! We would LOVE to reach our goal.

 We will be collecting new toys in their packages (and wrapped) at our November luncheon for the Fort Drum Mountain of Toys.
